About the Journal

The Journal of Applied Botany and Green Economy (JABGE) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing knowledge at the interface of plant sciences, sustainability, and socio-economic development. The journal provides a platform for innovative research, reviews, case studies, and policy analyses that explore how plants and plant-based systems can drive a sustainable and inclusive green economy.

JABGE welcomes contributions that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

  • Applied Plant Sciences: Crop improvement, stress physiology, plant–microbe interactions, biotechnology, and functional genomics with relevance to sustainability.
  • Plant Resources and Food Security: Utilization, conservation, and improvement of plant genetic resources for resilient agriculture, nutrition, and livelihoods.
  • Ethnobotany and Economic Botany: Sustainable use of traditional knowledge, biodiversity conservation, and commercialization of plant-based products.
  • Climate Change and Ecosystem Services: Plant adaptation to changing environments, restoration ecology, carbon sequestration, and nature-based solutions.
  • Bioeconomy and Green Innovation: Plant-based industries, circular bioeconomy, bioproducts, green technologies, and ecosystem service valuation.
  • Policy, Education, and Capacity Building: Curriculum reforms, skill development in plant sciences, and policy frameworks that align science with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To maintain focus, JABGE does not consider manuscripts that are purely descriptive (e.g., species checklists, taxonomic notes) or highly specialized experimental studies without clear relevance to applied botany,
